I grew up as the middle child of 3 boys in Chapin, SC. Growing up on Lake Murray, any time I was not in school I spent outdoors! As I grew older, I discovered working with children was my passion. I completed my Bachelor’s degree at USC with a degree in Chemistry and taught Chemistry labs for some time before going to the Medical University of South Carolina for Dental School. It was there where I met my wife and fell in love. Upon graduation from dental school, I completed a General Practice Residency at The Ohio State University, with a special interest in hospital and special needs dentistry of all ages. Desiring to specialize in pediatrics, I then went on to complete my specialty training in pediatrics at MUSC. While in residency my education focused on infant oral health, children with special health care needs, hospital dentistry, interceptive orthodontics, craniofacial anomalies and comprehensive pediatric dental care.
Throughout my post-doctoral training I have always sought to deliver quality and compassionate dental care to all my patients. Part of this desire has caused me to continue my learning through continuing education, as well as becoming a Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry, by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. I am also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the MUSC College of Dental Medicine Department of Pediatric Dentistry where I teach residents specializing in Pediatric Dentistry.
As a child with previous dental fears myself, I have the unique perspective in knowing what it feels like to be an anxious child at the dentist. I truly believe that each child is unique and deserves to be treated with kindness. When my wife and I decided to stay in the Lowcountry and start our family after finishing my residency, I wanted to create a place where all children could feel welcome. Oak Landing is the place where everyone can grow from Acorns to Trees.
When I am not seeing patients or teaching, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son. We enjoy eating, walking, and being amazed at the silliness of our Irish-doodle Max.
